Our Services
We provide the following services:
We provide routine cleanings to ensure that our patients maintain great oral health. We also work with our patients to establish dental hygiene routines to keep teeth and gums healthy. Your teeth are not the only important part of your mouth. Gums are essential to oral hygiene as well. We can provide periodontal cleanings and treatment, or refer you to one of our recommended specialists.
Endodontics is the dental specialty that deals with the nerves of the teeth. Root canals are probably the most notorious procedure in dentistry and the most common procedure relating to endodontics. When a tooth becomes infected it is usually related to the nerves in the root of the tooth.
The infected nerves need to be removed. If left untreated an infection can turn into an abscess, which is a much more serious problem that includes bone loss in the jaw. A root canal is when the infected tissue is removed, the canal is cleaned and the the space if filled with a sealant called gutta percha.
Implants are a permanent and appealing solution to replace missing or extracted teeth, often preferable to alternatives like bridges because they don’t require the alteration of additional teeth.
We work with patients to assess if implants are the right solution for their restorative work, and provide full implant services from the screw installation, consulting through the jaw healing process, placement of temporary crowns, abutment placement and creation and placement of the permanent restoration.
We are able to provide our patients an array of restorative dental procedures including Bridges and Crowns, Inlays and Onlays. We work with patients to identify the best procedure suited to restoring their smile.
Dental bridges use existing teeth are used to create a bridge to cross the area of the missing tooth. Crowns, Inlays and Onlays (partial Crowns) are an option to restore decaying teeth and use existing teeth as abutments. These restorative pieces are made using strong and durable porcelain and can be made to match the shade of your other teeth. The entire process generally occurs over the course of two visits, first a visit to shape the abutments, take impressions and fit a temporary solution. About two weeks later the permanent solution is fitted and cemented. These restorative solutions are very durable and will usually last about 10-15 years.
VENEERS
Dental veneers are thin covers that adhere to teeth to give teeth a more classically shaped look. Aspen Dental practices offer a variety of dental veneer options to choose from.
WHITENING
Zoom is a bleaching process widely used throughout the country and around the world to lighten discoloration of enamel and dentin. The Zoom in-office tooth whitening procedure uses the Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp – said to accelerate the bleaching process – to activate the 25 percent hydrogen peroxide whitening. As the hydrogen peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin to bleach the stained substances, leaving the structure of the tooth unchanged.
BONDING
Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure in which a tooth-colored composite resin material is applied to your teeth to improve your smile. Bonding can improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped, broken, cracked, stained or have spaces between them.
Periodontal (gum) disease is insidious. It is an infection of the gums that starts out as plaque, an opaque film on the teeth that hardens to form tartar. As tartar accumulates, it harbors bacteria that attack the soft tissue around the gums. This is the early stage of gum disease known as Gingivitis. Left untreated, Gingivitis becomes Periodontitis which ultimately destroys the tissue surrounding your teeth AND the bone that holds your teeth in place. Except for bad breath and gums that bleed, there are very few early warning signals. The disease advances silently, often without pain, and before you know it, you are losing your teeth and you don't know why.
Tooth loss is only the most obvious indicator of gum disease. Scientific research has discovered linkage between gum disease and stroke, heart disease, diabetes - even an increased risk for pregnant women. When your gums become diseased, your entire immune system is weakened.
Impacted teeth and wisdom teeth that can potentially cause problems, like infections, need to be removed. Extractions can range from a single tooth, to removing all four wisdom teeth at once. Based on the preference of the doctor and/or the patient, a local anesthetic could be used to numb the areas where the teeth will be extracted. Others will prefer to go under a general anesthetic so that they will be sedated during the procedure.
